The Market Place Tea Room has rooms on two floors for those taking tea. The menu includes a wide selection of hot and cold snacks as well as afternoon teas. The drinks menu had a somewhat limited selection of teas, as well as coffees, other hot drinks, and soft drinks.
A slice of coffee and walnut cake, and a pot of Cornish Smugglers Brew tea came to £5.75, with the cake quite moist and very creamy.
Visiting on a very wet spring afternoon, the tearoom was exceptionally busy, with tourists eager to seek shelter from torrential rain. According to the proprietor this was unusual – the tourists would usually head home in wet weather. This unexpected business perhaps explains why the proprietor was a little sharp with a few of her other customers.
