If you have an aversion to the colour pink, then The Courtyard Tea Room is not for you. Almost everything about it is coloured pink – walls, napkins and crockery are all pink, and pink flowers adorn the small courtyard from which the tearoom takes its name. Despite being tucked away – there’s an easily missed sign advertising the tearoom at the narrow entrance to the courtyard on St Ives’ Fore Street – The Courtyard Tea Room appears to do a brisk trade, with all tables inside occupied on the rainy day that I visited. There are six tables in a single room for those taking tea, as well as two tables outside in the courtyard.
The menu offers sandwiches and a selection of ‘sweet treats’, with six cakes plus scones displayed on the counter. The drinks menu included a choice of seven teas as well as coffees and soft drinks.
A BLT sandwich, a slice of chocolate fudge cake, and a pot of green tea came to £13.20, with the sandwiches very well filled and the cake including chocolate chips in its chocolate cream filling.
A tearoom well worth seeking out, both for the food and for the monochrome experience.
