Dimbola Tea Room, Freshwater Bay

Date visited: Tuesday 22nd June 2021

Dimbola House is a museum and gallery devoted to the works of Julia Margaret Cameron, a Victorian photographer. It includes on its ground floor a tea room which is open to the public and not just to museum visitors. The tea room has one large indoor room, with a slightly rundown appearance, for those taking tea, as well as a few benches outside. The menu is limited but sufficient, both in respect of food and beverages. This was redeemed by the cake display which was much more impressive, and by the teas offered being loose leaf teas, not teabags.

Tuna mayo and cucumber baguette, coffee and walnut cake and a pot of green tea. Some of the chairs were in need of a fresh coat of paint.

A tuna mayo and cucumber baguette, coffee and walnut cake and a pot of green tea came to £12.05, with the cake being a fine example of the coffee and walnut genre.
