Sandown’s tearooms face each other across the town’s High Street. Lulu’s Tea Rooms has a more prominent position of the two, on the corner with Pier Street, and has a single room for those wishing to take tea. This is a typical seaside tearoom, offering a range of snacks and a small selection of beverages.
The counter at the rear of the tearoom displays a range of cakes, although on the afternoon of my visit the selection was limited, with trade appearing to have been as brisk as the COVID-19 restrictions permitted. A tuna and salad baguette, a slice of coffee and walnut cake, and a pot of Tetley’s tea came to £10.00.
