Skipton has several tea rooms but the most centrally located one is the Three Sheep Tea House, which is sandwiched between the High Street and Sheep Street. The Tea House has rooms on two floors for those taking tea, as well as outside tables in Sheep Street. Toilets are on the second floor, with quite steep staircases, which may be a challenge to less able-bodied patrons.
Cakes are displayed at the counter near the High Street entrance, though the waiting staff could recall the full list of cakes on offer the day I visited. The menu is quite extensive, with breakfast and lunch offerings as well as afternoon teas. The range of teas on the drinks menu is very limited though.
A heated BLT sandwich, coconut and raspberry cake (the ‘cake of the day’), and a pot of Taylor’s green tea came to £12. As with most other Yorkshire tearooms, the portion of cake was substantial. With thick layers of coconut cream and raspberry jam, it also gave quite a large sugar rush. By the time I left, I felt very well filled and plans to try another of Skipton’s tearooms later in the afternoon had to be abandoned.
