Biddy’s tearooms has two branches. Their main tearoom is in Norwich, but their main bakery, with a smaller tearoom, is in Aylsham. Biddy’s Kitchen in Aylsham has a long single ground floor room for those taking tea, as well as a small tea garden at the rear. The menu is extensive, with food cooked to order. Service was quite quick despite that, but still refreshingly slow in comparison with establishments where most food is prepared in advance. The tea menu is also extensive, and there are many jars filled with loose leaf tea behind the counter. If their isn’t a tea to your exact taste, you can choose a mix of teas if you wish! The selection of cakes on display at the counter is also extensive.
A Stilton ploughman’s (unfortunately served on a slab of wood rather than a plate), a slice of chocolate and cappuccino cake and a large pot of jasmine green tea came to £11.35. Not only was the cake flavoured with coffee and with chocolate in the cream icing, but it also contained a coffee-flavoured chocolate embedded within, and was accompanied by raspberries, a strawberry, and a good dollop of cream. Very rich, thoroughly enjoyable and quite filling!
