Barker Tea House, Cardiff

Date visited: Monday 25th February 2019

The Vintage Tea & Coffee Co has several establishments in Cardiff, three of which are in the name of Barker. There’s Barker Rum & Fizz on the High Street, which concentrates on alcoholic beverages. In the Castle Arcade is Coffee Barker, offering breakfast and lunch menus and a wide range of coffees. But for the more discerning customer, Barker Tea House can be found in the High Street Arcade. The Tea House has ground and first floor rooms for those taking tea, furnished with comfortable leather chairs, as well as tables outside in the covered arcade.

Jasmine flower green tea and gluten-free chocolate cake came to £6.99.

The menu at Barker Tea House is quite extensive, with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. The cake selection included numerous gluten-free cakes. The tea menu was also extensive – one of the largest I’ve seen. The beverages on offer also include soft drinks, bottled beers and ciders, and a selection of gin.

A jasmine flower green tea and gluten-free chocolate cake came to £6.99. The person serving me almost asked if I wanted milk with my green tea, before realising his mistake and correcting himself. With everything thus in order, it was easy to sit back in a deep leather chair and relax whilst drinking tea and eating cake.
