Tea Truck, Dorset

Dates visited: Friday 12th and Saturday 13th October 2018

The Tea Truck is based in Dorset and offers refreshments to events and venues throughout the surrounding area. The truck is an Austin K9 built in 1955 and originally an army radio signals truck.

On this occasion it was parked at Corfe Castle Station on the Swanage Railway. The range of cakes on offer varies throughout the day as new supplies are brought out from the back of the truck. A limited range of light snacks, ice cream, teas, coffee and cold drinks is also available.

The tea was nothing much, but the Dorset apple cake (my first encounter with this cake) was delicious and filling. I returned for a second helping the next day. A piece of cake and beaker of tea came to £3.50.

Ex-LSWR T9 class 30120 enters Corfe Castle station on the Swanage Railway with a goods train from Swanage. In the background, the Tea Truck is serving tea and cakes.
