Dawlish has a plentiful supply of tearooms, with three in sight from The Lawn beside Dawlish Water. I selected the Old Mill Tea Room in Brunswick Place for an early lunchtime visit. Tea can be taken both inside the tearoom, and on the small terrace just in front of the mill water wheel. The wheel is just for decoration now and is electrically powered, and turned on and off when the proprietor wishes.
The Old Mill’s menu is not extensive nor the most luxurious, but typical of many a seaside tearoom, offering teas, coffees and light lunches. A ploughman’s lunch and a pot of tea was inexpensive and filling.
