Date visited: Sunday 14th October 2018
At the time of visiting, Nellie Crumb in Wareham had only recently been opening on Sundays, and seemed to still be struggling with its approach. The Tea Rooms has two rooms for taking tea, one at the front and a larger room to the rear, with a counter for those making takeaway orders in a separate room at the front. The as well as cakes and teas, there was a fairly full menu of traditional English meals made with local produce.
Signs in the window offered ‘late full English breakfast’ on Sundays, but this option only seemed to be available on the day until the chef got bored with making breakfasts, which on the day I visited was just 45 minutes after the tea room had opened at midday. For those lucky enough to place an order before the chef lost interest, the breakfast looked very good and quite substantial. Venison burger and a pot of tea came to £11.95. I had intended to stay and have some cake too, but I was sat next to a customer who was very disappointed at missing out on a full English breakfast, which rather spoilt the experience and provided no encouragement to stay for more.
