Very busy at midday, but a little quieter half an hour later, Bean and Brew on St Mary’s Street in Wallingford is a rather odd mixture of an extensive range of good quality beverages but cheap food. Tea can be taken in ground floor and first floor rooms, as well as at tables outside in the street. The service wasn’t overly welcoming and the table wasn’t cleared from the previous customer.
A pot of loose leaf green tea, chicken, bacon and mayo ciabatta, and chocolate cake came to just £9.95.
Wallingford can be reached by regular bus services from Didcot, Oxford and Reading. Approximately one weekend per month it can also be reached by train from Cholsey Station using ‘The Bunk’ Cholsey and Wallingford Railway.
